Louise Leff combined a lifelong love of the outdoors with her creative inclination to use nature’s features and colors to paint and sculpt her immediate environment. Her formal education began at Merritt College, where she studied horticulture, and later to the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR) and to Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ) to study Landscape Architecture.
After receiving her degree in landscape architecture, Louise designed public parks for New York City Parks and Recreation, and designed golf course developments and water parks on Long Island, NY.
In 1998 Louise returned to Sonoma County to start her own company, Louise Leff Landscape Architecture, where she could practice her talent for design on residential and public landscapes in Marin, Napa, Mendocino and Sonoma Counties.
Louise specializes in creative landscape designs that incorporate the native plant communities of California, and her gardens are populated with organically occurring plant habitats. She is also highly skilled in the art of lighting. To expand the enjoyment and artistry of the landscape in the nighttime environment, Louise uses lighting to accentuate landscape features, and guide the way through forests, along garden pathways, or to safely illuminate entry passages.
Louise’s teamwork approach to her projects requires collaboration with other top-notch professionals of the landscaping industry. Many highly skilled sculptors, architects, landscape contractors,

experts, pool designers, masons, and carpenters make up her pool of qualified team members. Louise’s ability to manage a diverse team results in a smooth transition from design concepts on paper to the installation and completion of the constructed project. The team concept allows for greater flexibility and expands the design offerings for landscape features such as pools, patios, waterfalls and ponds, fountains, patios and decks, walkways, walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits and barbeques.
